School Based Therapy
Health Resources of Arkansas provides mental health professionals in many schools in the counties we serve. Our mission is to identify and intervene in early in behavioral problems and emotional disturbances and assist parents, teachers, and counselors in developing comprehensive strategies for resolving these problems. By placing mental health professionals in the schools, HRA is able to serve children with less interruption to their school day. It reduces the cost and travel time by family members.
School-based clients are referred to the program by parents who through the school or a local mental health clinic. Parents who are interested in this service may call the nearest HRA behavioral health clinic to arrange for an intake/assessment.
Typical school based services include:
- Individual, group and family therapy
- Case Management
- Consultations with school staff
Typical referrals are those who are victims of trauma, sexual, physical, or emotional abuse; children who are having difficulty with anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and adjustment disorders. The mental health professional offers services to students and families and school staff as requested with permission and support from the child's parent.
Payment sources for services will include: private pay, private insurance, Medicaid, ARKidsA, ARKidsB, and grants. All possible payment sources will be explored , and parents can discuss financial obligations before services begin.
